Online Therapies
Online therapeutic support has really increased accessibility to many who would otherwise be extremely isolated. It also increases the possibility to access support for those with limited time. It may be your preferred choice.
I developed the online body based therapies provision at Cavendish Cancer Care, now Weston Park Cancer Charity, during Covid lockdown to increase and ensure accessibility.
With Psychotherapy meeting online may feel safer, reducing vulnerability. I have undertaken additional training in online therapy and invite any questions/concerns that you may have relating to using the internet to access talking therapies.
“Words giving meaning to exercise, must come from our own awareness of our body….we must experience for ourselves” Masunaga (1987;29)
I focus on body awareness exercises, self-shiatsu and massage techniques, acupressure, stretches and Do-In. Bodypoem can be accessed online and TRE® is also provided online as a separate therapy.
Online also means that you can experience the benefits of body-based therapies in surroundings of your choice. It may be the only way you are able to access therapies, for example, due to childcare, health issues, finances, limited transport or time.
Group sessions reduce isolation and can facilitate connection to a wider community.
Group sessions are a more affordable way of experiencing therapies. You will learn tools and techniques that encourage confidence in self; tuning in to your physical sensation and innate bodily wisdom.
Adam Hellinger in the Shiatsu Society Journal 2021 says “our posture creates a relationship within us”. I would add our posture also creates a relationship around, outside and between us.
In this sense the work is wholly relational and we work collaboratively and creatively to engender an engaged enlivenment.
